WIP PEEK: Snippets & Excerpts #2

Amelia gives her readers a peek at just what they’ll be getting when her Romance Novel is published. Includes an excerpt and a snippet.

As promised I’ve got the biweekly post for you, the one where I share with you an excerpt and a snippet from my work. This week I’ve decided that both pieces will come from my current Romance Novel WIP (work -in-progress).

Here’s the Excerpt:

“I see,” she said, turning away from him.
Without a thought he reached out and grabbed her wrist. It was small, his fingers encircling it with room to spare. “Wait,” he said. “It’s not what you think.”
She didn’t resist, didn’t pull away. He stood and tugged her just enough for her to stumble his direction. Letting go of her he moved his hands to her waist, settling them just above her jeans, her yellow blouse the only thing between his flesh and hers.
Her head tilted as she raised her hands and put them flat on his chest. They were trembling and he was torn. He wanted to keep his hands where they were but it pained him to see her hands showing such emotion. Choosing to set aside his own desires he put his hands over hers, willing them to still.
“You’re shaking,” he said.
“I know,” she admitted, “I can’t help it.”
“Do I scare you?” he asked. His body was responding to the closeness. It had been a long time since he’d stood so close to a woman.
She shook her head. “No. It’s not you. At least I don’t think so.” Her eyes glanced at his wound.
“It’s not what you think?” he said again. Connor wasn’t sure if he was trying to convince her or himself.
“You did something stupid,” she reminded him.
“I did. Something very stupid.”
“Will you tell me what it was?” she asked.
“No,” he said, too quickly. “It doesn’t matter what it was.”
Her eyes narrowed slightly. “And what if it matters to me?”
“It shouldn’t,” he told her.
He sighed and shook his head. Protecting her was important. Strong but pained, emotionally drained maybe. Life had hit her hard. He wanted to wrap her in his arms and never let her go. It was irrational. It was illogical. It was confusing.
It was one of the most real things he’d ever experienced in his life.

And here’s the Snippet:

Their eyes met and their gaze held. He saw movement, saw her lick her lips, and his breath faltered. Her eyes broke away first. “Okay,” she said.

He nodded, not sure he could trust his voice, and grabbed one of the towels. Doing as he promised, he marched to the other end of the porch and stood there, watching the storm instead of her. Right now she was removing her clothing. All of it. He knew it and it heated his blood. Not that he was turning into a sex crazed monster. It wasn’t anything like that. While there was a tightening in his pants, it wasn’t guiding what he was feeling. Something drew him to her, something about her made his body and his mind crave closeness. Any kind of closeness.

Like in the truck but closer. Her hand in his. Touching her skin. Listening to her gasp.

He shook his head and cursed himself for going down that rabbit hole. It wasn’t purely sexual and right now it was nothing at all.
